Born Amala Dlamini in California on Oct. 21, 1995, Doja Cat is a Grammy Award-winning singer and rapper. After dropping out of the Los Angeles performing arts high school she attended at 16, she poured her time into scouring YouTube for beats to which she wrote and produced her earliest releases.
Doja Cat self-released her debut single, “So High”, in 2014 before releasing her debut EP, Purrr!, later that year.
At age 17, Doja signed to RCA Records with a joint venture deal with Dr. Luke’s vanity label, Kemosabe Records, in 2014. She signed to them in late 2013 but the deal was finalised in early 2014. She has declined to comment on her connection with Luke through Kemosabe.
