Birth of Contemporary Art Forms Contemporary Indian art emerged with significant British influence. The pioneers of contemporary art genres included Ravi Raja Verma, Rabindranath Tagore, Abanindranath Tagore, Amrita Shergil, and Jamini Roy.
In 1910, Roger Fry and his colleagues founded the Contemporary Art Society. At the time, this was simply a private society where artwork could be purchased for public museums. Through the 1930’s more institutions were founded with the same terminology.
Seven contemporary art forms include architecture, film, literature, music, painting, sculpture, and theater. Additionally, contemporary artists are found working in digital art, Earth art, installation art., performance art, photography, street art, and video art.
